Tyler Harper

Tyler Harper is an award-winning journalist currently working at the Nelson Star in Nelson, B.C. He previously spent six years as a sports reporter at The Canadian Press in Toronto and was also a supervising editor at theScore.

In his reporting at the Star, Harper has written extensively on the toxic drug crisis, affordable housing, poverty, climate change, municipal politics, education and local sports organizations.

As a sports reporter Harper covered events including the World Baseball Classic, the Honda Indy Toronto and the Rogers Cup. He's also provided coverage of MLB, NBA and MLS games.

Outside of the newsroom, Harper was a teaching assistant at Wilfrid Laurier University where he provided feedback to first-year journalists. He has also done freelance work for publications including Vice, Motherboard and Hazlitt.
